A farmer, Wunde-Fenan Juna, 25, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for raping an 8-year-old girl. An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, Jos, presided by Mr Yahaya Mohammed, on Wednesday sentenced the convict. The Prosecutor, Insp. Yakubu Audu told the court that the case was reported at Mangu Police Division on Nov. 7, 2017. He said the case was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Jos, for proper investigation and prosecution. Audu said that the convict lured the minor into the act by giving her N10. He said that the convict took her into an uncompleted building and inserted his fingers into her private part. Audu added that Juna later inserted his manhood in an attempt to have carnal knowledge of her. The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code, Law of Northern Nigeria. The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of notorious leader of a kidnap-armed robbery gang, known as Ezenwa Collins, a.k.a E-Money and the arrest of his members. E-Money was killed during a gun duel with the police at Atta in Ikeduru L.G.A of the state. The former police officer-turned armed robber, and two members of his gang were shot dead by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) during a robbery operation in Imo State on Saturday, January 27. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has indicated interest in Chelsea’s David Luiz ahead of the deadline of the January transfer window. A new warning has been issued by security operatives about a new method of ATM robbery being used by fraudsters. Banks have been warned about a new means of robbing ATMs, previously seen in Europe and Mexico. The United States Secret Service issued the warning recently saying, the method – nicknamed Jackpotting – is now hitting the U.S for the first time in a coordinated way and is spreading out other places. It works just like it sounds, an ATM machine is compromised to spit out cash to a fraudster at a furious rate of 40 bills every 23 seconds, the Secret Service explained. “That’s where you get the term jackpotting from because it is basically like a slot machine that you hit the jackpot — you are basically taking all of the money out of the ATM,” supervisory special agent Matt O’Neill told ABC News. Farmers, Miyetti Allah and Traditional Rulers in Imo state have signed an agreement in Imo state that the owners of farms destroyed by Herdsmen will be duly compensated. As part of events to honor the memory of former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, Anambra state government has declared Thursday 1 February a public holiday. This was made known by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwudebelu who said it was to enable Anambra people to participate effectively in the programme planned for the day by the state government in honor of the late vice president at the famous Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The state government said all markets and businesses in the state would be closed on that day to enable Ndi Anambra, friends, associates and well-wishers to pay their last respects to the late Ekwueme.

Twenty four hours after smashing a deadly kidnap syndicate in Imo State, the operatives of Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad of the state Police Command have arrested another suspected “deadly member” of the gang. The state commissioner of police, Chris Ezike, who addressed journalists on Monday in Owerri about what he called “massive breakthrough” for his command and the state, said the number of exhibits recovered from the suspect was mind-boggling. The Police had, on Saturday, smashed a gang of six, but while three were arrested, the other three reportedly died during a shootout with the policemen. A Nigerian man has been arrested for throwing his tenant down from a 3-storey building in Florence, Italy. According to Drumbeatnews, Daniel Chukwuka allegedly did this because the victim, Precious, allegedly refused to have sex with him. According to Precious, on that faithful day, when she returned from work, her landlord, Chukwuka, came to her room and demand for sex with her, which she refused. While attempting to rape her, he realised that she had her phone on record and this provoked him to beat her and then throw her from the building. The woman collapsed after receiving the slap from the officer as people gathered in their numbers to know why a man would slap a woman in public to the extent of her collapsing.
