A mountain guide rescued a husband and wife left dangling 100ft when their plane crashed into a zip wire. Peter and Mary Gaddin were on their first flight carrying out an anti-rhino poaching patrol for a game reserve in South Africa when they slammed into the steel cable. The high wing Bat Hawk aircraft was swinging and rocking in the increasingly strong winds and was hanging just by its propeller. A rescue from above could not be executed, as the wash from the rotors would dislodge the aircraft, so mountain and rescue officer Rob Thomas decided to reach the couple by travelling down the zip wire. Federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has advocated six(6) steps to end vote buying and selling in Nigeria. The All Progressives Congress(APC) senator speaking via twitter on Friday evening listed the six steps. According to Sani, ending poverty, tracking campaign finance and prosecuting ‘big offenders’ are steps that should be taken, if vote buying should come to an end. He also said establish election offenses and other related crimes, as one of the steps to that should be taken to end vote buying and selling. A 31-year-old notorious cultist, Olamide Oloruntobi, was last night killed during a gun battle with policemen at Ishashi, Ojo, Lagos. Olamide was said to have been the leader of the Aiye cult group in that area. It was gathered that the deceased was gunned down at about 8:50pm, at Durosooto Street, Celenizer, New Mebamu, Ishashi. Hoodlums, allegedly led by the deceased, were said to be terrorising residents of the street when information got to the Divisional Police Officer (DPP) Ishashi Amuda Abolaji, a Superintendent (SP). The Nigeria Police Force have arrested one Augustus Akpan, 43, for allegedly threatening former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to withdraw from the presidential race. The Force Spokesman, DCP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this in a statement to NAN on Wednesday. He said that the suspect hailed from Edemaya village in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Moshood said that one Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge cell phone and a SIM card used by the suspect to send the threat messages to Atiku were recovered from the suspect. The Police on Wednesday arraigned Iliyasu Lawal, 28, Nura Iliyasu, 29, and Idris Suleiman 28, in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court FCT for allegedly trespassing the premises of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the trio, who are residents of Kaduna State, were accused of attempts to commit suicide inside the presidential villa. Mr Augustine Urom, the Prosecuting Counsel, had averred that Lawal, on September 12 allegedly climbed a telecommunication mast within the presidential villa to commit suicide while the others watched. Urom further told the court that the Department of State Service had transferred the defendants to the FCT Police Command on Sept.18. He further averred that the defendants allegedly invaded the Aso Rock Villa with various protestation placards capable of making the public to revolt against the Federal Government. Victor Marah, a Sierra Leonean referee, has died after collapsing while officiating a community league football match in Freetown on Tuesday. According to BBC, the incident happened a few minutes before the end of a well-attended match between Kroo Bay and Falcon 12 FC. Attempts were made to revive the 27-year-old but he was pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital. The exact cause of death is not yet known. At least, one person has been confirmed dead after a shoot-out between unidentified gunmen at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Obudu area of Cross River State. The incident was said to have occurred late Thursday after the senator representing Cross River Central in the National Assembly, John Owan-Enoh, had just finished consultations with stakeholders of the party over his governorship ambition. The victim, a student of the Federal College of Education in Obudu, was said to have been sitting in the front of his house when the stray bullet hit him in the head.
